Crude steel production by region in August 2026 was as follows: Africa produced 2.1 million tonnes, up 8.8% year-on-year; Asia and Oceania produced 106.7 million tonnes, down 1.4% year-on-year; the EU (27) produced 8.9 million tonnes, down 1.0% year-on-year; other European countries produced 3.8 million tonnes, up 1.2% year-on-year; the Middle East produced 3.7 million tonnes, down 4.6% year-on-year; North America produced 9.4 million tonnes, up 3.9% year-on-year; Russia, other CIS countries and Ukraine together produced 6.3 million tonnes, down 5.6% year-on-year; South America produced 3.4 million tonnes, down 4.9% year-on-year.
